February 9 – World Greek Language Day

February 9 – World Greek Language Day

World Greek language day and the students of our school explain why they learn Greek. After all, our goal is for our students to learn the Greek language effectively and in depth and to pass on not only the language but also the spirit, the culture and the ethos that inspires all the peoples of the earth throughout time.

«They gave me Greek as the language

The poor house on the sandy beaches of Homer…

My only concern is my tongue on the sandy beaches of Homer…»

Odysseus Elytis, Axion Esti

«… it has been spoken continuously for 40 centuries.

While for 28 centuries it is written with the same script and the same

Greek alphabet and for 24 centuries it has been written with the same spelling».
